Why you Can't make Liposomals at home

What are the benefits of Liposomal nutrients?

Liposomal Encapsulation Technology is a new way of deliverying a desired substance or nutrient by encasing it into a nano-sized fatty bubble called a liposome. This allows the nutrient to pass effectively through the stomach and digestive acids which can destroy a significant amount of standard vitamins supplements. The body recognises the fat bubble and absorbs the liposome through the small intestine. The structure of the liposome enables much higher delivery into the cells of the body, ensuring much higher bioavailability than equivalent regular supplements. The typical absorption is around 7-10 x greater than standard nutrients, meaning a small dosage goes a long way - far further than standard supplements.

About Lipoic Acid

Nerve pain reduction - Nerve regeneration - Decrease in elevated glucose levels - Improvement in insulin sensitivity - Reduction of elevated cholesterol

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), comes in two forms - R- Alpha Lipoic Acid is the best form, but also the most expensive form. The other form is S-Alpha Lipoic Acid. Most ALA products are a mixture or R-ALA and S-ALA which is a third form again cheaper but less effective the just the "R" form. ALA is unusual in that it is both water and fat-soluble. This means that it can get into any and all cells, unlike other antioxidants like vitamin E, which can only get into fat-soluble cells, or vitamin C, which can only get into water-soluble cells.

What is the difference between R-LA (R-Lipoic Acid) and R-ALA (R-Alpha Lipoic Acid)?

None! They are different names for the same thing. Which can be confusing. But S-Lipoic acid also known as S-Alpha Lipoic acid is different, as explained above.

What is R-lipoic acid used for?

R-Lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant that can provide a range of benefits for the body. Some of the potential benefits of R-Lipoic acid include:

1) Protecting against oxidative stress: R-Lipoic acid is a potent antioxidant that can help protect your cells against oxidative stress, which can cause damage and contribute to various health problems.
2) Supporting heart health: R-Lipoic acid may help support heart health by reducing inflammation and improving blood vessel function.
3) Improving insulin sensitivity: R-Lipoic acid has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, which may help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
4) Supporting nerve health: R-Lipoic acid may have neuroprotective effects and may help improve nerve function in people with conditions like diabetic neuropathy.
5) Supporting healthy aging: R-Lipoic acid may have anti-aging effects by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, which can contribute to age-related diseases.

Overall, R-Lipoic acid is a versatile and powerful nutrient that can provide a range of benefits for the body.

Is R-Lipoic acid anti inflammatory?

In short, yes! R-lipoic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is a natural immune response that helps the body fight off infections and heal injuries. However, when inflammation becomes chronic, it can contribute to various health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Studies have found that R-lipoic acid can help reduce inflammation by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory molecules such as cytokines and chemokines. R-lipoic acid has also been shown to suppress the activation of NF-kappaB, a protein complex that plays a key role in regulating the immune response and inflammation.

A note on pain relief

"Clinically relevant effects on neuropathic pain are seen after only 3–5 weeks of alpha lipoic acid administration."

So this is not a "pain kiler" like paracetomol which works within an hour.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)

Apparently, Alpha Lipoic Acid can lower the level of vitamin B1 (Thiamine) in the body. So if taking ALA long term, it may be worth considering also taking Vitamin B1 or Vitamin B complex  as well.
